R7DHRE Preparedness Series: Developing an effective Fire Prevention Program in your community
Join Mike Davenport, Public Education Coordinator, as he discusses the many aspects of a robust fire prevention program and how to effectively engage your community. The Omaha Fire Department Fire Prevention program has worked to take a proactive approach to raise awareness and educate the public on fire safety and how to protect their home, business or family in the event of a fire or catastrophe. In addition to fire prevention measures, Mike will discuss his work in the Youth Firesetter Program. Nationally, children of all ages set about 100,000 fires annually, resulting in over $300 million in property damage and about 300 deaths per year. This program has led to success in reducing arsons and engaging partnerships in the community.
